Our online didactic IV therapy options are designed to help learners review foundational and role appropriate IV therapy concepts before attending an optional hands-on skills lab or competency validation session. These courses are self-paced and completed online through assigned modules.
Participants have 2 weeks from the date of enrollment to complete assigned modules. Participants should download and save the certificate of completion for each module, including the AAMA or ANCC certificate when available.

Complete the online didactic portion of IV Therapy for Today – Basic through assigned modules covering hand hygiene, infection prevention, peripheral IV care, IV fluids, IV medications, IV push, peripheral IV insertion, infusion devices, medication administration principles, communication, and IV therapy complications.
Important:
This option includes online didactic modules only. It does not include hands-on IV practice, skill check-off, or competency validation.

Best for:
Licensed professionals who need both foundational IV therapy review and advanced IV/central line preparation.
Description:
This online didactic option includes assigned modules covering peripheral IV therapy, IV fluids, IV medications, IV push, central venous catheter care, implanted port care, blood draws from central lines, PICC removal, feeding tube care, enteral feedings, medication administration, infection prevention, communication, IV therapy complications, and patient assessment concepts.
Assessment topics include cardiac, respiratory, gastrointestinal, bowel sounds, breath sounds, heart sounds, and fluid volume status to support safe clinical decision-making.

This option includes online didactic modules only. Hands-on skills lab, skill check-off, and competency validation must be purchased separately if needed.

Best for:
Unlicensed assistive personnel such as Patient Care Technicians with AEMT certification, AEMTs, Paramedics, Dental Hygienists practicing under appropriate supervision, and other certified healthcare professionals whose role, employer policy, credentialing, and state scope-of-practice rules may require IV therapy knowledge prior to hands-on training.

This online didactic course introduces non-professional and support staff learners to basic IV therapy concepts, infection prevention, patient safety, IV terminology, awareness of supplies and equipment, patient preparation, awareness of complications, documentation support, and role boundaries.
Important:
This course is educational only. It does not authorize unlicensed individuals to start IVs, administer IV fluids or medications, or perform tasks outside their legal role, employer policy, or supervision structure.

Completion of an online didactic course does not expand a participant’s legal scope of practice or independently authorize the participant to perform IV therapy. Participants are responsible for following their license, certification, employer policy, facility protocol, provider orders, supervision requirements, and applicable Texas regulations.
